How to assign platform Admins & Moderators

This Quick Guide shows how to grant or revoke Admin & Moderator roles for your ScaleGrowth experience portal.

As your ecosystem grows, you'll want core members or team to help with administration and moderation. You can now scale your team with ease by granting Admin and Moderator roles to different User Accounts.

ScaleGrowth offers three levels of community management & admin roles:

  • Moderators – are the day-to-day management accounts, who can see and manage all the end-users and content within your ScaleGrowth experience; they also have limited ability to configure the experience
  • Admins – in addition to everything Moderators can do, Admins can fully configure & customize the experience; can also grant/revoke Moderator and Admin privileges for others (except Owner)
  • Owner – is the primary “Super Admin” account – each ScaleGrowth Experience has exactly one Owner; in addition to everything Admins can do, the Owner serves as the final authority for your ScaleGrowth Billing and Account Management, as well as any Support / Your Success Center requests that require approval.


When you create a new ScaleGrowth Experience you auto-magically become the Owner for it.

We can Transfer Ownership upon request – please open a request in Your Success Center or reach out to [email protected] or your ScaleGrowth account manager. Please note that for security reasons, this request must come from your Owner User Account or Email.


What can a Moderator do?

  • Invite Members
  • See the Dashboard and Manage
  • Accept, Interview, or Reject Members if you have the Applications & Admissions experience module enabled.
  • Add/Remove members
  • Manage Email comms using the Create Email wizard
  • Manage Forums, Events, Resources and Opportunities via Engage
  • Remove Member’s Posts and Comments
  • Create forms for Surveys and Custom Listings via Custom Forms



What can an Admin do?

In addition to everything a Moderator can do, Admin can also

  • Set up the brand, naming, and landing page under Settings > Brand & Design.
  • Choose the feature modules for the platform under Settings > Choose Modules menu.
  • Configure Platform-wide Tags, Spaces, User Groups, Programs or Membership Tiers, Access Permissions, and myriads of other custom options using the Settings > Configuration.
  • Customize User Journeys
  • Setup Payment integrations with Stripe or Flutterwave.


To manage Admin or Moderator privileges for your core team members:

  • Make sure the person has already created an account on your ScaleGrowth platform. If not, you can easily invite them to join by following this guide How to Invite Member or Users to Your Platform.
  • Log into ScaleGrowth with your Owner or Admin account.
  • Enter Admin if you weren't already
  • Navigate to Manage → User Accounts
  • Under the Actions column, select either “Make Mod” to grant Moderator privileges or “Make Admin” to grant Admin privileges.


  • You can also use "Revoke Admin" and "Revoke Mod" buttons to revoke someone's Admin or Moderator privileges.
  • Please note that you can not Revoke Moderator privileges from an Admin – if you wish to do this, you have to Revoke their Admin privileges first.
  • Also, you can never Revoke the Admin privileges from the Owner account.


  • When you grant or revoke someone's Admin or Moderator privileges, an automatic email will go out and notify them.
